The EHC programme consists of three phases: financial support for missions, provision of training grants and establishment of specialised national centres for congenital heart disease. (Roberto Ferrari)

Many of the clinical interventions needed are relatively simple such as hole in the heart (atrial septum defects) others, such as blue baby syndrome (tetralogy of fallot) are more difficult. However the results in these children are amazing, and most of them have a near-normal quality of life and a longer life expectancy once they  receive the needed treatment. (Claudia Florio)
